Coaching Culture Research

A growing number of organizations recognize the value in building a coaching culture that offers employees at all levels the opportunity to grow their skills, enhance their value and reach their professional goals. Through a research partnership with the Human Capital Institute (HCI), ICF is exploring the components of strong coaching cultures and how organizations use coaching to achieve strategic objectives.

Available Now: Defining New Coaching Cultures

Since 2014, ICF and the Human Capital Institute (HCI) have jointly investigated the fundamental tenets of coaching cultures within organizations and established a set of benchmarks for creating robust coaching environments in organizations.

This year’s research comes at a pivotal moment, following a period of immense workplace transformation triggered by the global pandemic, and it sheds light on critical trends affecting coaching cultures. While revisiting many of the subjects from previous reports, this one also focuses on barriers such as burnout and employee turnover, the influence of technology advancements like digital coaching platforms, and the prospect of coaching an increasingly remote workforce. Additionally, it looks at the impact of coaching on trending initiatives such as Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), upskilling, and employee well-being.
